This week, a group of hospitals announced the formation of a non-profit company that will manufacture generic medicines in order to combat drug shortages and outrageously high drug prices.
Initially, the focus will be 14 generic drugs that are administered to patients in hospitals.
According to the CEO of the new organization, one-third of the country’s hospitals are either committed to participate or have expressed interest in participating. The goal is to bring greater competition to the generic prescription drug market.
While it is unfortunate that little has been done to address high drug prices, it is promising that there are individuals who are taking action to do something to create change.
We hope that this new initiative brings relief to Americans who struggle to afford skyrocketing drug prices. The full story can be accessed here: https://cnb.cx/2wQa9pz
