GLOBAL CONGRESS ON INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY AND THE PUBLIC INTEREST

Recently, we had the honor of attending the 5th Global Congress on Intellectual Property and the Public Interest, and one of the key themes of the conference was lowering high drug prices.

The turnout points to the increased focus on the importance of intellectual property, which has been leveraged by Big Pharma to keep prices high. In total, more than 400 people attended the Congress, more than ever before with more than 200 international attendees from 50 countries. More than 300 people participated in the conference for the first time (including CPPI!).

Participants discussed how to reduce the amount of time that Big Pharma can monopolize the market for a drug by blocking generics from entering the market. Attendees also shared best practices from around the globe of legislation that is helping to increase access to high-priced drugs.

This is one example of how we are working with partners and like-minded organizations to identify solutions for improving access to safe and affordable medications. It is time for change!
