CHICAGO TRIBUNE: LET’S ADDRESS THE HIGH COST OF PRESCRIPTION DRUGS

Today, the Chicago Tribune published an op-ed from Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi (IL-8th) on the rising cost of prescription drugs.

As he writes, “A recent Kaiser Family Foundation poll even found that 60 percent of Americans — including a majority of Republicans – think lowering prescription drug prices should be a top priority for President Donald Trump and Congress.”

He highlights a patient whose co-pays for his multiple myeloma drugs have increased by 500 percent over five years. While the pharmaceutical company that makes the drug has benefitted from a 132 percent increase in revenue from the drug.

Stories like this are all too common, unfortunately. We agree that something needs to be done about the high cost of prescription drugs. We believe that Americans have a right to safe and affordable prescription drugs.

Millions of Americans buy their daily prescription medications from licensed, legitimate Canadian pharmacies each year, saving millions of dollars not to mention preventing serious health outcomes.

We will continue fighting for patients who struggle to pay for their prescription drugs. We are here to be their voice.
